There is a grace period of 2 hours after the rental time ends for the drivers to return the car. Drivers are expected to return the car on time, but if they are running late, s/he is responsible for retaining regular communication with the car owner.
Drivers receive a text before the end of the rental with an option to extend the rental in order to avoid being late in the system. If the driver cannot extend a rental due to inadequate funds, the driver must drop it off at the scheduled drop off time. Car owners should NOT let a driver continue to drive without processing a proper extension; the insurance will not be updated until the extension is filed.
There is a mandatory $15 administrative late fee if the vehicle has not been returned or the rental has not been extended
- This fee will be applied at the time of extension or after the car has been returned.
HyreCar also works with partner repossession agencies around the country to recover embezzled cars, if such a situation does arise.
Please note, HyreCar is not responsible for tow or repo fees on late rentals if an owner decides to tow or repo the vehicle without HyreCar's consent.
