Once an owner confirms a booking and insurance has been issued (24 hours before the start of the rental), the driver’s card is charged. The driver will then receive 3 documents: Insurance in the driver’s name, Registration Form in car owner’s name, and Inspection Form. Once these documents have been uploaded to the on-demand or ride-share platform the driver is good to go! The driver contacts the owner to arrange the pickup time.
At the pickup site, the driver and the owner do a walkthrough. Both parties are encouraged to take pictures of the car (front side, back side, passenger side, driver side, interior) as well as the dashboard (gas/mileage). If there is existing damage, it is recommended that the driver report this to the support team to avoid future discrepancies.
Important steps for car owners:
- Confirm that the driver has the insurance printed out. Please do not hand off the car until HyreCar issues insurance.
- Check the license to make sure the name matches the account and insurance. Take a
- photo of the license.
- Take the 5 photos required on the app before confirming pickup.
- Sign the electronic inspection form.
- Car Owners must click on “Confirm Pickup” to start the rental.
A driver must keep in regular contact with the car owner once the rental end date nears. The driver will get an option to extend the rental, but if the driver chooses to end the rental instead, then s/he will need to contact the car owner to drop the car off at the designated location and time. The car owner must click “Confirm Drop Off” to end the rental.
During drop off, the driver and owner do a walkthrough to check for physical damage, gas level, and mileage. The owner or an owner's representative must be present during drop off to inspect the vehicle with the driver. Damage claims must be reported promptly; HyreCar is not liable for damages reported after the owner has confirmed vehicle drop-off.
