Deposits are refunded between 2-10 business days upon return of a clean rental.
Note: If there is a damage claim, accident or gas/mileage issue, HyreCar will withhold the deposit until the situation is resolved. HyreCar has the right to deduct the deposit amount upon investigation of a claim in order to pay out the car owner if necessary.
REFUNDS FOR APPLICATIONS
Application submitted, but NOT yet approved:
If a driver decides to cancel a rental before an owner approves an application, then he/she will need to alert the support team by going to Dashboard -> Contact Support or by calling up the Driver Success agent. At this stage, the driver has not been charged for the booking.
Application approved, but vehicle has not been picked up:
If a driver decides to cancel a rental after an owner has confirmed booking, then the driver will need to alert the support team by going to Dashboard -> Contact Support or by calling up the Driver Success Agent. The driver will receive a full refund if the reasoning for cancelation is deemed sufficient. It takes 5-10 business days for the funds to reflect on the bank account.
REFUNDS FOR EARLY DROP OFFS
Early Drop off: If a driver needs to drop off a car early for car issues, then the driver will get the remaining days refunded from the rental minus HyreCar processing fees.
If a driver wishes to return a vehicle prior to the return date simply because they no longer want the rental, they will be reimbursed based off the daily rate of the vehicle. The driver will get a refund minus the insurance costs for remaining days and HyreCar processing fees.
Early Drop offs on Weekly/Monthly Discounts: If a driver books a car for a week/month and has availed of a monthly discounted offer to do so, then an early drop off refund will be calculated on the daily listed price. Insurance costs for the remaining days and HyreCar processing fees including application fee will not be included in the refund. Rental can only be canceled by HyreCar after a confirmed booking and issuance of insurance.
The weekly rate for the car is $200 with a daily rate of $35 (weekly discount = $45). The total amount paid by the driver is calculated as follows:
Total paid = ($200 weekly rate + $70 insurance for 1 week + 10% HyreCar Processing fees on rental cost~$20)
= $290 for 1 week rental
After renting the car for two days, the driver decides to return the vehicle. The refund on the remaining 5 days of the rental is based on the daily rate, not the discounted rate, and is calculated as follows:
Rental Cost for Days Active = (Daily Rate ($35) * Days Active in Rental (2)) + (Insurance fee ($10) * Days Rented (7)) + HyreCar Processing Fee ($20) = $160
Refund = Total Paid ($290) - Rental Cost for Days Active ($160)
= $130 Refunded
REFUNDS FOR OWNER CANCELATIONS
Rental can be canceled by a car owner after a confirmed booking but without insurance issuance. At this point, the driver will get an alert on the phone that booking has been canceled. Driver must inform HyreCar through Dashboard->Contact Support so that a refund can be initiated. It takes 5-10 business days for the funds to reflect on the bank account. Rental can only be canceled by HyreCar after insurance has been issued on the rental.
NOTE: The deposit and any other refunds will be returned back to the same account from which it was initially charged. HyreCar cannot re-route the funds into any outside accounts from which it was initially charged. HyreCar will not distribute any outside forms of payment as a refund (i.e. written checks, PayPal, money order, etc.).
