Who Pays a Deposit?
Drivers booking in Arizona, California, Maryland and Nevada will be required to pay a refundable $99 security deposit at booking. Please note that all cards will be kept on file for possible incidental damages.
Paying the Deposit and Deposit Return
The deposit will be added to the rental breakdown at checkout when booking. Should the rental be returned in the condition in which it was received, the deposit will automatically be released back to the account in which it originated 48 hours after the rental has been completed by the Owner. Deposits may take 2-10 business days for the funds to post to an account depending on the issuing bank. Note: National Holidays may delay processing time for refunds.
If an issue is raised by the Owner upon vehicle return, the Driver’s deposit will be placed on hold until the claim has been resolved. If the Driver is deemed liable, HyreCar reserves the right to apply the deposit to the remaining balance of the claim as necessary. This includes but is not limited to unpaid insurance premium fees, transaction and processing fees, vehicle Owner earnings, incidentals, and repossessions when the Driver is deemed liable for these expenses. All payment cards will be kept on file to assist with payment for eligible fees and expenses that exceed the deposit limit.
When Incurred Fees Exceed the Deposit
Drivers are responsible for all fees and expenses that are incurred during or as a result of their rental as described in use of deposits above. If the total amount of fees and expenses that the Driver is deemed liable for exceeds $99, HyreCar reserves the right to invoice and charge the Driver for the difference using the payment methods on file, unless the Driver contacts HyreCar to dispute the fees or expenses. If the Driver is unable to pay the total amount owed on the invoice, the Driver may contact HyreCar to explore payment plan options.
Note: Owners should not have separate contracts/agreements, or collect additional deposits, or arrange rentals or payments outside of the HyreCar platform, where the relationship between the Owner and Driver originated on the HyreCar platform unless required by applicable law for the renters outside of the HyreCar platform. If deposits are charged and held by any entities other than HyreCar (i.e., off the HyreCar platform), HyreCar has no control over their application and use. In the event that HyreCar does hold a deposit, HyreCar determines the use of the deposit should a claim be opened. Owner reimbursement is not applicable or guaranteed for deposit use. If the Owner chooses to implement a separate rental agreement where not required to do so by law, HyreCar’s Rental Agreement and Terms of Service, and HyreCar’s obligations and responsibilities therein, will no longer apply.
