Cars on the HyreCar platform have been vetted and approved to use for rideshare and/or delivery service companies. Once a Driver is activated by passing a background check, Owners can receive rental requests and approve them. After a rental is approved and insurance is generated, Drivers will have immediate access to the documents needed to upload and become active with your rideshare or delivery service company. This includes the vehicle's legal registration, an insurance policy in the Driver's name, and a vehicle safety inspection (if required by the state).
How do Drivers receive the documents?
Wondering how to rent a car for Uber, DoorDash, Postmates, Instacart or other on-demand rideshare/delivery services? Documents will be available to download from your HyreCar account under "My Reservations" on both the app and the website. Drivers should upload these documents to whichever apps they intend to use the vehicle for before checking in to the rental with the Owner. Once the documents have been uploaded, your vehicle should be approved online within a matter of a couple hours, or you can go directly to your local rideshare office to have them activate you immediately.
Should Drivers already have a rideshare or delivery account prior to booking?
Yes, Drivers should first create their profile and run a separate background check with the transportation network company (TNC) they will be driving for. The companies require their own screening and approval processes, which can vary in time. Once approved to drive with a gig company, we then suggest signing up for the HyreCar platform and submitting your information for our background check. Once you have passed our background check, you will then have access to request vehicles in your area!
Please see our Driver Eligibility Requirements page to make sure you qualify.
Note: Though HyreCar is an official rideshare rental partner with Uber, we can not guarantee that Drivers will be able to use their HyreCar rental with Lyft.
