All rentals on HyreCar’s marketplace have daily mileage limits that the vehicle Owner sets. The mileage limits range from 250 to 1,000 miles per day. When viewing a vehicle listing Drivers will be able to see the total miles per day that will be granted for the rental. The amount shown in the car’s details page is the daily mileage.
To calculate the total amount of miles for a rental, take the daily mileage amount and multiply it by the number of rental days. If a listing states that it offers 250 miles per day and a Driver is renting for 2 days, the Driver will have 500 miles to use during the rental period for no additional charge.
What happens if the Driver exceeds the mileage limit?
At time of rental check-in it is important for owners to take photographic evidence of the odometer before handing the keys to the Driver. This will be used as evidence to assess any mileage overage claims. If a Driver goes over the specified mileage limit, a fee of $0.25 per mile is assessed. Vehicle owners have 24 hours after a rental has been returned to file a reimbursement request. The evidence for excess mileage will need to be provided within 48 hours of claim filing to be eligible for reimbursement.
How are Owners reimbursed for excess mileage?
A member of the HyreCar team will review the request and evidence provided to determine reimbursement eligibility. If the Driver is found liable, HyreCar will reimburse the Owner based on the specified percentage under the selected Protection Plan for the vehicle. Drivers will be invoiced by the HyreCar team and may be subject to additional processing fees.
Please note: If assistance is needed to collect the mileage payment, then HyreCar may collect additional processing fees from the Driver.
