Check-In
Once an Owner accepts a booking, Driver payment is captured, and insurance is generated within 24 hours of the rental start date. The Driver will have access to all documentation that is needed to upload to their rideshare and/or delivery platforms:
- Insurance (in the Driver's name)
- Legal Registration
- Inspection Form (if required)
Before the vehicle is checked in, both the Owner and Driver will need to do a walkthrough of the vehicle. Owners are required to take pictures of the vehicle (front side, back side, passenger side, and driver side) as well as the dashboard (gas/mileage). We encourage Drivers to take their own check-in photos as well to accurately document the condition of the vehicle. If there is any existing damage, the Driver should report this to the HyreCar support to avoid future discrepancies.
If the Driver discovers that the vehicle is unclean, damaged, or has maintenance issues before or during their rental, they must return the vehicle as soon as possible. If the Driver decides to keep the vehicle, they are choosing to accept the vehicle as is, and will not be eligible for any possible reimbursement.
Important Steps For Owners:
- Confirm that the rental insurance has been generated; do not hand over the keys until HyreCar this has been done, as it will not be covered in the event of an accident.
- Thoroughly check the Driver's license to ensure that the name matches the account and insurance
- Take photos of all sides of the vehicle, gas and mileage gauge; as it is required to be uploaded on the app during the check-in process
- Owners must click “confirm pickup” to officially start the rental
Check-Out
When a rental is due to expire, the Driver and Owner should remain in contact with one another to coordinate a the drop-off of the vehicle. The Driver will have the ability to extend the rental at any point during their reservation, and an Owner should be prepared for such. If the Driver chooses to end the rental, then it is the responsibility of the Driver to get in contact with the Owner in order to decide on the location, date, and time of check-out. Drivers that abandon vehicles may be subject to additional fees and termination from the HyreCar platform. Vehicle Owners must click “confirm drop off” for the rental to end and prevent days from accruing on the Driver's account.
While the vehicle is being returned, both the Owner and Driver must perform a walkthrough together in order to check for physical damage, gas level, and mileage. The Owner or an Owner's representative must be present during drop off to inspect the vehicle with the Driver. Damage claims must be reported within 24 hours of the vehicle's return. HyreCar is not liable for damages reported after the vehicle has been returned to the Owner.
