Unsafe, salvaged and/or reconstructed titled cars do not qualify for the HyreCar platform.
Safety and vehicle quality are key to ensure the confidence of HyreCar users. To be eligible to rent, vehicles must have a clean, non-branded, non-washed title and meet our list of vehicle requirements.
Owners who knowingly or unknowingly list vehicles that do not meet these title requirements are in violation of the HyreCar’s Terms of Service and Rental Agreement. It is the Owner’s responsibility to comply with vehicle safety and provide accurate titling history. Any violation of these policies may result in voided coverage under the relevant insurance policy(s) and Protection Plans.
HyreCar reserves the right to modify eligibility requirements at any time for any reason.
Branded titles are documents that prove ownership and indicate vehicle history. Branded titles may include evidence of extensive damage, issues with odometer accuracy, or a defect that caused the vehicle to be repurchased by the manufacturer or dealer. Title branding definitions vary by state and in most areas are regulated by the state's department of motor vehicles (DMV). Prohibited branded titles include but are not limited to:
- Salvaged (even if “salvage” does not appear in the title itself)
- Reconstructed/Repaired/Rebuilt/Irreparable
- Vehicle that had been declared a total loss at any point
- Written off
- Lemon/Buyback
- Junk
- Odometer Rollback/Inaccurate or inconsistent mileage
- Flood/Water/Fire Damage/Hail
Washed titles: Some states do not transfer ‘branded title’ history from other states that originally ‘branded’ the title to be transferred. In that case, the title becomes what is known as a “washed” or "clean" title. Owner are prohibited from listing a previously branded titled car by registering it in a different state where accurate title branding history is not disclosed.
