How to rent a vehicle and start driving
Verified Drivers that have passed the background check can get on the road by following these steps:
1. Browse cars in the area and submit booking requests for the desired amount of time. We recommend applying to 3-5 vehicles, as Drivers will only be charged for one vehicle that the owner approves first. Owners have 24 hours to confirm or deny your request; you will not be charged until the first Owner accepts the booking.
2. Once the rental is approved, Drivers will receive:
- Insurance in the Driver's name
- Registration
- Inspections Forms (if required by the state)
3. Upload the three documents to the intended rideshare/delivery portals.
4. Contact the vehicle Owner to arrange check-in.
5. Inspect the vehicle and complete the check-in process with the Owner.
8. Start driving!
Is there a long term commitment?
There are no long term commitments when renting on the HyreCar marketplace. HyreCar offers flexible options when it comes to renting or listing a vehicle. For any initial booking, a minimum of 2 days is required to reserve a vehicle. After the minimum requirement is met, Drivers and Owners can coordinate to extend the rental by day, week or month.
Can Drivers use their own insurance?
To ensure the protection of the vehicle while in the Driver's possession, we require that all rentals include HyreCar's insurance. The Driver will need a comprehensive policy that includes the Ddriver's full name and VIN number in order to drive for rideshare and delivery companies; HyreCar provides this with every rental!
What if a vehicle has existing damage?
If the vehicle has existing damage, Drivers should take photos and report any visible scratches or dents at the beginning of the rental by contacting HyreCar support. Please see more information about our cancellation policy as Drivers have the right to refuse vehicles that are unsafe.
What if a Driver is late to return a vehicle?
If a Driver is running late or are unable to return the vehicle, they should contact the Owner immediately. We offer a 2-hour grace period after the rental period ends to assist in the return of the vehicle. Drivers that return the vehicle past the 2-hour grace period will be charged the daily rate of the vehicle plus the insurance and transaction fee. Read more about our Late Return Policy here.
What if a Driver goes over the mileage limit?
Mileage is set at a default minimum of 250 miles/day. If the Driver goes over the mileage limit, there is a fee of $0.25 per mile. For a more in depth description, please see our Mileage Policy.
